The Buck 147 Hookset Fillet Knife 9″ is a premium saltwater filleting knife built for anglers who regularly process larger fish and demand exceptional corrosion resistance, flexibility, and cutting performance. Designed with Buck’s renowned attention to quality, this knife combines a long, flexible blade with an ergonomic all-weather grip, making it the ideal choice for everything from inshore table fish to hard-fighting offshore species.
At the heart of the Hookset is a 9-inch (23cm) flexible blade crafted from high-quality 5Cr15MoV stainless steel. This premium steel provides an excellent balance of toughness, edge retention, and corrosion resistance, while maintaining the flexibility needed to follow the natural contours of the fish. Whether you’re removing large fillets, skinning fish, or trimming around rib bones, the blade delivers clean, precise cuts with minimal waste.
To further enhance durability in harsh marine environments, the blade is finished with a Titanium Nitride coating. This advanced coating provides an additional layer of protection against saltwater corrosion while reducing friction through the cut, helping the blade glide smoothly through flesh and making cleanup easier after use.
The ergonomically designed handle features a glass-reinforced polypropylene core with a soft TPE rubber overmould, creating a comfortable, secure grip in all weather conditions. Even with wet or slimy hands, the textured rubber handle provides outstanding control and confidence, reducing fatigue during long filleting sessions.
For safe transport and storage, the Buck 147 includes a durable injection-moulded plastic sheath complete with an integrated belt loop and drain hole. The drain hole allows water to escape, helping the knife dry quickly and reducing moisture build-up, while the belt loop keeps the knife close at hand whether you’re on the boat, beach, or filleting table.
Designed specifically for demanding saltwater use, the Buck Hookset is equally at home processing large freshwater species, making it an outstanding all-round fillet knife for serious anglers.
